The U11 Ford Weekend Recap
The U11 Wranglers and head coach Kayla Ford opened their first tournament together this past weekend when they took on the Girls Hockey Challenge on home ice!
The Wranglers would open their 2024 spring season with a matchup against the Rushforth Selects, it would be a hard fought battle against the Selects as our Wranglers team was still learning their new teammates in these first few days. The Selects would end up getting the better of our Wranglers handing them a 6-0 loss to start the tournament. The Wranglers would look to bounce back in game 2 when they took on the Toronto Goal Diggers and would battle until the very end, even scoring their first goal of the tournament, but would fall to the Goal Diggers 5-1.
Day 2 would have our Wranglers back in action closing out round robin play in the 4-team division, this time taking on the EO Young Queens. The game would be fast-paced and full of action as the Wranglers went back and forth with the Young Queens on the ice, unfortunately the scoreboard wouldn't show the battle as they Wranglers would drop the game 4-0 to the Young Queens. But now it was time for the semifinal matchup for our young Wranglers team, and they would be matched up against the Toronto Goal Diggers once again. It would end up being another spirited battle by the Wranglers and the Goal Diggers until the very end, and it would have the Goal Diggers come out with the edge beating the Wranglers 1-0 in the semifinal to end the Wranglers tournament there.
We're so proud of how you did this weekend for your first time together U11 Wranglers, we can't wait to see what happens in the rest of your season!
