2016 Peters Make Semi-Final in Ottawa - Weekend Recap
The 2016 Wranglers (Peters) were 1 of 3 Wranglers teams competing in the Riot Cup at the nations capital this weekend, making all the way to the knockout stage! Here is how the tournament broke down each day.
Day 1 for the 2016 Wranglers team would see them in a morning matchup with the St. Lawrence River Queens and they wouldn't miss a beat, coming out on top with a 7-2 win to start the tournament out 1-0. Later in the day, our Wranglers would be matched up with the Ottawa Destroyers in an early evening game. They would battle hard against the Destroyers until the final buzzer, but just coming up short losing 3-2.
Day 2 would see the 2016 Wranglers (Peters) come firing on all cylinders against the Ottawa Top Guns, also winning 7-2 just like day 1. In their final matchup of the round robin they would go face-to-face with the Durham Mustangs, and in a tightly contested matchup, the Wranglers would come out on top winning 6-4 ending the tournament with a 3-1 record.
This would mean the 2016 Peters team would be playing in some Sunday playoff hockey as they would meet the Ottawa Top Guns once again, this time in the semi-final. The Wranglers fought hard until the very end with the Top Guns in a close battle just falling short, losing 5-4.
